Planning - Inspirational music videos

Some of the videos below are videos that have inspired us, we plan to use some of the concepts and ideas that they have used in their music videos. The song that we have chosen does not have a music video to it yet so this will help us become as original as possible.

The first video i have looked at was a video made by the same artist of our chosen song which is SBTKRT. The pace of the music is slow and this is linked to the editing side aswell as some of the scenes shown are done with slow motion. There are a lot of close ups of the main character in the video and this shows the expression of the characters face, which also has meaning as we can see that she is in mental condition. This research was useful for us as it reminded us that every shot type we use in our video must have a meaning which either links to the theme or lyrics.

SBTKRT - Hold on was a music video that was perfect in demonstrating the link between the lyrics (which has dark theme), to the setting.  The lyrics portrays an unhappy side to a relationship and links to the setting of the video which is set in the night. This gave us inspiration on how to use the weather or setting to help the audience understand the lyrics. When we film our scene at night, we must bring some lighting equipment to ensure that we do not get clips that are too dark.

XXYYXX - About You.
This music video is inspirational as it gave us ideas on how to use editing to draw attention to the viewers. The effects used here are that the clips are reversed backwards and also in slow motion so we see the smoke coming out and back into the mouth of the woman.
