Research - Carol Vernallis Book

After coming across various media books in the library, I finally found a book that was useful for my development in understanding the theoretical side of music videos. I have gained interest in reading this and its called " Experiencing music videos" written by Carol Vernallis. In this post I will be picking out the key points that were relevant and useful for me to apply within the planning stage of my production.
An example would be on page 101 in which Carol explains the difference between a hollywood movie scene compared to a music video scene. Carol compares between the two in terms of camera work and editing. She wrote that " In the traditional Hollywood film scene, the camera begins at a distance and gradually moves in as this structure allows the viewer to create knowledge about the plot and characters". She compares this to a music video narrative in which she says that " the camera in a music video moves much more freely and unpredictably. Shot decisions are made to suit the music".
This was useful information as it gives me an idea of how I should incorporate the use of camerawork such as using a close up shot to highlight intensification.
Below is a short clip of me in the library flicking through some of the media based books. Couldn't speak as I didn't want to distrupt others from working.
