Reflecting Back On The AS Year.

During AS I came across various websites,software,technologies and programmes that I had never used before. But by familiarising and using these throughout the year it has allowed me to gain knowledge and skills that i can now put into use within this academic year.

Here are some of the websites that i had never used before;

I learnt how to use the JVC camera, and how to use it effectively when filming;

Some of the technical skills i developed, are camera angles and rules such as;

As well as close ups, low angle, high angle to show status,extreme close ups ect..

Also I understood the power of creating a storyboard as it allowed me to visualise and control the film. First creating the storyboard by hand then digitally creating it using Quark Express.

One of the most important things I learnt that I underestimated was target audience. I also learnt about sub genres, Intertextuality, structure of a film opening and types of film openings; Discrete Openings, Narrative Opening and so on...

I learnt how to use Final Cut Pro and Soundtrack Pro. I imported the footage on placed images,sound, and camera footage onto the timeline. Using transition between clips such as fade in and fade out allowed it to look smooth, I also used effects such as Negative and colour correction to fix darker clips. I also learnt that match cut,jump cut, cut away and shot reverse shot are all done in the editing process. Once we finished editing the film i learnt how to create and add the title sequence following the conventions, using the appropriate font and size that suited our stylised piece. Once we finished editing we used soundtrack pro to include sounds such as foot tapping and breathing in our film.
